The March Toward a Clean Energy Future
Sims Limited Ranks on the Carbon Clean 200 List
Sims Limited is proud to have ranked 87 on the Carbon Clean 200 list and to be recognized as a company that is helping move the world onto a more sustainable trajectory.
As we continue down the path toward a sustainable, low-carbon economy, support for these initiatives continues to increase worldwide. There are currently more than 1,000 companies, representing US$23 trillion in market capitalization, that have committed to a net-zero-emission target in line with a 1.5°C future.
Recently, As You Sow and Corporate Knights released their ninth update of the Carbon Clean 200, which lists the largest 200 public companies ranked by green energy revenues.
As You Sow, a leading shareholder advocacy non-profit advancing values-aligned investing, and Corporate Knights, a research and media B Corp empowering people to harness markets for a better world, created the Carbon Clean 200 as a joint venture. This Carbon Clean 200 recognizes companies that best represent the clean energy future.
Founded in 2016, the Carbon Clean 200 uses the Corporate Knights Clean Revenue database to track the percentage of revenues companies earn from clean economy themes. These themes include energy efficiency, green energy, electric vehicles, banks financing low-carbon solutions, real estate companies focused on low-carbon buildings, forestry companies protecting carbon sinks, responsible miners of critical materials for the low-carbon economy, food and apparel companies with products primarily made of raw materials with a significantly lower carbon footprint, and IT companies that are leading the way on renewable energy while also being best-in-sector according to currently accepted privacy benchmarks.
The hope is that the Carbon Clean 200 list can do two things:
- Provide a useful north star for investors looking to pinpoint the companies leading the way to a clean energy future.
- Dispel the myth that clean investing is about sacrificing returns.
